Terms of service

A website summary of the basis on which this site and our coordination services are provided.

Website summary: This page summarises our terms for website visitors. Where a shipment has been quoted, booked or documented, that shipment's documentation and our issued terms and conditions of service govern it and prevail over anything summarised here.

1. Scope of this page

This page is a summary, written for the website, of the terms and conditions on which Global Marine Logistic (published as GLOBAL MARINELINES) provides information here and coordinates transport. It is intended to help you understand the commercial framework. It does not replace, vary or add to the terms and conditions, tariff, accepted quotation, booking confirmation or transport documentation issued for a particular shipment.

2. Which terms govern your shipment

Where a shipment is arranged, the documentation issued for that shipment governs it: the accepted quotation, the booking confirmation, our standard terms and conditions of service as issued to you, and the transport documents raised by the performing carrier. Where anything on this website differs from that documentation, the shipment documentation prevails.

3. Our role

Global Marine Logistic acts as a freight forwarder and logistics coordinator. Depending on the arrangement, we act as your agent in procuring transportation, customs brokerage and related services from third parties, or as a contracting party where we have expressly agreed to do so in writing. Carriage itself is performed by the contracted carrier, airline or haulier under its own terms.

4. Third parties

Carriers, airlines, hauliers, terminals, warehouse operators, customs brokers and other service providers are engaged on your behalf and are subject to their own terms, tariffs and liability limits. We select and instruct them with due care, but we are not liable for their acts or omissions except where we have expressly assumed that responsibility in writing.

5. Quotations and rates

Quotations are estimates based on the information supplied and are not binding unless and until confirmed by us in writing. They are subject to space and equipment availability, the accuracy of the cargo particulars given, applicable carrier surcharges and adjustments, and the validity dates stated. Rates may be revised where the actual cargo, routing or requirements differ from those quoted.

6. Customer responsibilities

You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all information and documentation supplied to us, including descriptions, classifications, values, weights, dimensions, marks, origin, licences and permits, and for ensuring the shipment complies with all applicable laws and regulations. Inaccurate or late documentation can result in delay, storage, penalties and additional charges for which you remain responsible.

7. Insurance

Cargo insurance is not arranged automatically. Carrier liability is limited by the applicable transport convention or contract and is not the equivalent of insurance. Insurance is only arranged where you request it in writing, in good time and with the values and terms required, and where cover is accepted by the insurer.

8. Limitations of liability

Our liability in connection with services arranged is limited as set out in our standard terms and conditions of service and, in respect of carriage, by the limits in the applicable transport conventions and the performing carrier's contract. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit or market. Nothing here excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Claims

Loss, damage, shortage or delay must be noted at the time of delivery where possible and notified to us promptly in writing, with supporting documentation, so that a claim can be presented against the responsible party within the short time limits that carriers and conventions impose. Late notification can prejudice or extinguish a claim.

10. Payment, charges and lien

Charges are payable in accordance with the invoice terms agreed, without deduction or set-off. Duties, taxes, demurrage, detention, storage, inspection, re-delivery and similar third-party charges incurred on your behalf are recoverable from you. Cargo and documents in our possession or under our control may be held as security for sums due to us in relation to that or any other shipment, and interest and reasonable collection costs may be charged on overdue amounts.

11. Website content and tracking information

Website content is provided for general information. Service descriptions, coverage and indicative lead times do not constitute an offer or a guarantee of availability. The tracking page returns published sample references so the tool can be demonstrated; it is not connected to a live carrier feed, and the status confirmed by your coordinator or by the carrier's own documentation is the authoritative one.

12. Intellectual property

The content, layout, graphics and marks on this website belong to Global Marine Logistic or its licensors and may not be copied, reproduced or redistributed without written permission. Third-party names and marks are the property of their respective owners.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms, or a request for a copy of the terms and conditions of service applicable to your shipments, can be raised through our contact form.
